Re: Rotary switches for wiper/washer

If you are thinking of the p6 dipswitch/flasher just be aware that there are two live feeds to the switch when wiring it up to provide dip when the lights are on and flash when the rest of the lights are not on. You will also need some sort of bracket to attach it to the dash - mine is fabricated ou...

Re: Well I said I would.............

You are all very kind. One of my Fathers writes technical pages for the Model Engineer magazine and the other used to wire up Vulcan bombers, you may therefore understand that the sucking through the teeth and mental tire kicking that ensues in my garage is conducted well above my head and is reason...

Re: Well I said I would.............

And Finally, Finally, I appear to have included the links and not the photos form Flickr - can someone tell me what to insert when right clicking the photos and I will replace the links?

Re: Well I said I would.............

part 2 Whilst I was on a fabrication roll, the indicator cancelling cam wouldn't reliably work with the VW indicator stalk. I made one up and screwed it into place and it now works like a dream. https://www.flickr.com/photos/147677979@N02/46166701211/in/dateposted-public/ The Rear bumper was then fi...

Re: Well I said I would.............

Sorry to come rather late to the party but surgery (not serious) tends to do that to you. My first loom was an original 289 loom for a RHD car supplied by Autosparks. This is indeed an authentic loom and I got as far as realising that the principal positive junction point for the 289 was the starter...

Re: Well I said I would.............

Thank you for your kind comments - I have a bit of backlog of bits I have made which I will post but at the moment I think my first job will be to sort out why the engine runs hooter than the surface of the sun - still winters coming and it will keep the garage cosy.

Re: Well I said I would.............

I can now confirm that the above is right that the examiner is only interested in those items that are on the fail list. This time the car started without problem - that was due to a small amount of corrosion on the negative battery terminal post. The fellow I had at Beverley was very helpful, very ...

Re: Well I said I would.............

Many thanks for the advice regards the suspension. The car is up on stands whilst I fabricate a seat locator/seatbelt mounting bar in 6mm steel that will though bolt through the fixing holes in the chassis, so adjustment should be straightforward. The variety of guidance this indicator point makes l...

Re: Well I said I would.............

Dear All, I have come a little late to this party on seat discussion and as i am in Italy, after two glasses of something very yummy and I do not have the IVA in front of me you may want to take this answer with a pinch of something. I have a couple of fabricated upper seat belt mounts that raise th...

Re: Well I said I would.............

Dear Kevin and Andy, Thank you for the kind words. I won't be at Silverstone this year as the car needs paint and trim. Next year Stu has issued a the 289 equivalent of a curse if I don't come, so I will be there. As to the coolant, on dire warnings of other members of "coolant incontinence" - such ...
