Oulton Park Gold Cup 24th - 26th August 2019

This Bank Holiday Weekend! So far, I know of 3 of our members attending the Oulton Park Gold Cup, this coming bank holiday weekend. There will be me and Jerry E. in our Cobras and Kevin K. will be racing his wonderful 1964 Shelby AC Cobra in the Historic Road Sports series. It's a terrific 3-day ev...

Re: Summer edition of T289R News

Thank you all so much for your kind words – they mean a great deal! But, it really is a team effort and without the support of our members, we wouldn't have anything to go into the newsletter. Which brings me to ask if you could all lend your support, once more, to our new Editor, Valerie, who now h...

The work I do can be seen and is tangible, but the rest of the committee and active members work just as hard, if not harder, making this fabulous ...

Re: T289R meeting Tues 12 Feb, 12 - 2pm

T289R members met last week, but unfortunately without their Cobras. However, there was some other nice machinery to be seen. The plan is to maybe relocate on a regular Sunday, monthly meeting, at the Donington circuit. We'll keep you informed. IMG_5884.jpg IMG_5883.jpg IMG_5881.jpg IMG_5879.jpg IMG...

If you fancy taking a spin around the glorious Peak District National Park tomorrow, then maybe call into the Red Lion pub, in the beautiful village of Litton, where The 289 Register will be holding its Midlands Region monthly meeting. 12 noon to 2pm. Great food, fine ales and car enthusiasts! large...

Re: 289 FIA grill

Sadly, no superior knowledge, I'm just a bit more familiar with COB6008 and if what I've been told is correct. As you are no doubt aware, there were only five 289FIA (CSX) cars originally. Others have been modified during their racing lives.

Re: 289 FIA grill

Kevin's old Cobra (white) COB 6008 Was factory built to FIA spec, specified by its first owner Bruce Ropner. The car has always had the FIA style cut-back doors and wider rear arches. The front wheel arches weren't quite as narrow as the road-going cars. And, no grille. Here's a photo of it taking p...
