I quite like the exterior, although it seems reminiscent of a Ferrari P4 (on steroids?), but the inside...hmmm, bit too brassy for me. ...not that I am likely to be purchasing one any time soon.

Re: Hard top / soft top hood frame fixing hole/bracket

Thanks Clive. I surmise from this that there is a metal bracket from the floor pan up and behind the door aperture for mounting the door latch and then folds up and under for mounting the steel tub for the hood bow. Makes sense - good design and won't stress the body over such a large area. I'll hav...

Re: Hard top / soft top hood frame fixing hole/bracket

Thanks Clive - this is what I suspected would be the case. I see the aluminium hoop ferrule sits inside a steel bracket - internet pics of the hawk chassis suggest this may be glassed into the body. Would anyone, perhaps in build before cockpit fit-out, have a pic of what this bracket looks like in-...

Hard top / soft top hood frame fixing hole/bracket

I bought a used Hawk bubbeltop sometime ago from the small ads on T289R, and plan to adapt this for my Crendon. However, I have now realised there is no alternative but to cut it in half and extend it backwards by inserting a 3-4" fillet. I am slowly getting a plan together on how best to do this, ,...

Re: Coolant catch tank

I can't speak for others but the standard Ford expansion tank on an FE engine has relatively little room for coolant expansion, so, on the recommendation of others i fitted a catch tank when i had overheating problems (now cured with a better cap, touch wood). The catch tank should be at atmospheric...

Re: Coolant catch tank

Thanks Kevin - YouTube video perfect - I now know how it works - had not realised the radiator cap had a 2 way valve system. I bought an 800ml expansion tank. Which one did you go for and in your experience is 800ml adequate? Cheers Jerry Hi Jerry, Mine is the 750cc tank in the link, mounted at the...

Goodwood Soft Top Sunday

Just returned from this, slightly disappointed given such wonderful weather. I first went to this 15 or so years ago when it was a small event, and it was a great little-known-about event. My first time back. Now it has expanded massively, OK thats progress, but surprising how many pedestrian cars o...
