Re: Tripo headlights

I have actually gone off this upgrade for the time being, due to new originality information similar to the above. Also having looked through all my AC / Cobra books, I cannot find any 289/427 shaped cars with these fitted other than Trevor Legate's rather lovely 427 AC/Hawk repro that adorns the fr...

Re: Tripo headlights

I put tripods from SVC on my car. More expensive but better than the cheap ones. However, the beam pattern is not perfect. Simon I guess you mean these Simon: https://www.s-v-c.co.uk/product/7--pl700-tripod-reproduction/ I am not sure I see the advantage compared to these which also take the H4 bul...

Tripo headlights

I'd like to fit a set of the 'tripo' headlights like these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/264080706855?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&itemid=264080706855&targetid=595627757993&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9045816&poi=&campaignid=6619151963&mkgroupid=84510980768&rlsatarget=pla-...

Re: Le Mans 66 film

- also noticed the Lola model kit on the shelf in the boy's bedroom, the copious tea drinking, and the door sequence at Le Mans.

Re: Le Mans 66 film

Several technical inaccuracies (fiat didn’t buy into Ferrari until ‘69,) and the whole British connection was swept under the carpet somewhat (we designed and built the bloody thing, Shelby merely developed it) but still a great film. Watch it with an open mind and enjoy ( in the same way you’d wat...

Re: Statutory plate

I found this guide quite helpful when I was going through my own private hell with IVA: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/individual-vehicle-approval-iva-for-cars-help-to-get-a-pass/individual-vehicle-approval-iva-for-cars-help-to-get-a-pass - and yes, IVA is harder than SVA, which I happil...

Re: Statutory plate

You'll need axle weights for completing the IVA form to ensure they set up the brake test correctly,
But these should not be stated on the VIN plate, unless you use a clearly separate designated box for any other data other than the vehicle make and model and the chassis number.

Re: Fitting the side screens

I have a similar gap on my bubbletop above the sidescreen frames as in Simon's last pic - in fact they aren't a very good fit round the curved part of the moulding either.

Be interested to see how you get on with this aspect.

Re: Statutory plate

you dont need to state these on the VIN plate.
VIN plate should only contain chassis number and manufacturer

Dont even put 'England' or 'UK' on the VIN plate - that was one of my many fails at Gillingham.
