Re: Ford 302

Hello Ronny Yes, they work with flanges. I connected reducers (3 to 2,5 inch ) to them and than welded a 2,5 inch exhaust system together. Loosining and tightening is a bit difficult, you have to work from the top and from the bottom. If you would have stayed for the Sunday at the Ring you could hav...

Re: Inner tie-rod balljoint

The rack is pushed down on the pinion (steering shaft) by a spring loaded halfround plastic guide on the right side. This side has no bush.

Re: Inner tie-rod balljoint

I can recommend that everybody who is running his Hawk with MG B steering rack cfor some years now heck the condition of the rack guiding (bearing)bush. This is on the left side on RHD cars. Grab the gaiter with the track rod inside and move it up/down/forward/back. If you feel any movement take off...

Bush for steering rack

Need help on this! Does somebody know where to get a bush for the MG B steering rack (part number 17 H 8664)? Many have it on their website, but not in stock/no longer available/on back order. They must be around somewhere, as you can buy new/reconditioned racks everywhere. Thanks for any helpful an...

Re: Inner tie-rod balljoint

Peter, in my case there was enough oil/grease mixture in there. I found out that they put EP90 gear oil in there for the rack lubrication and the inner ball joints are lubricated (filled) with grease. The steering rack was otherwise in perfect condition, only the rack supporting bush has been wearin...

Re: Inner tie-rod balljoint

Hi clive, had a chance today to work on the car. Seems I have the same problem like you, inner tie rod ends are okay, play(very much LHS) is because the rack bushes are worn nearly away. I have already taken the complete rack out from the car. Did you try to repair your rack or just put a new one in...
