Thank you for some well thought through summaries. It is difficult to work out whether the intention is simply to tighten up the rules on tax free 'historics' or to shake up all the law surrounding the registration and use of modified vehicles. My feeling is it probably started out as the former but...

Morning- I found Difflock Evolution 1 fully synthetic made a positive difference - from Difflock.com.

Overcomes the the perennial problem of being thin enough not to gum up the synchromesh while still protecting the bearings - it's horrendously expensive.

There is a compromise required between the light oil needed for working the synchromesh and the heavier viscosity ideal for gears and bearings.
I've found Difflock Evolution 1 Fully Synthetic very good
