Welsh tour for 2020 - 4th to 7th Sept

Hi, members one and all. I would like to propose a week end tour of Wales in 2020. Yes, I know it’s a long way ahead but the activity center I have in mind has already got 26 bookings between May and August so dates disappear very quickly. They are taking bookings for 2021 already including the CRC....

Re: Silverstone Classic 2019

Thanks to all for your company and many thanks to those behind the scenes responsible for organising the extras like coffee and biscuits. I think the camaraderie shows why the club is expanding. To now be over 200 members is quite a milestone. The topics of conversion at Sat evening meal were intere...

Re: Vapour lock

Just like Fiat 500 Abarths of the ‘60’s.
I think one of the CRC guys down our way does that for his Cobra especially when doing the Brighton speed trial.

Re: Vapour lock

Despite having twin thermostatically controlled fans that switch at differing temperatures I always flick on one of the fans manually as soon as the temp reaches 90 and the traffic queue is not moving. Just returned from Goodwood and with today’s temperatures up in the 30’s the under bonnet temp whe...

Re: Vapour lock

Simon, hopefully one of the Ford engined guys can advise. Thinner air filter or look at a lower rise inlet manifold. Thankfully I was told in advance that I need a low rise inlet for my Rover so have had no issues with fitting an insulating block. My filter is also dished on the underside thus dropp...

Re: 2.5" versus 3" exhaust

Well who’s a lucky boy if you have a 3” or even a 2.5”
Just measured mine at 2.25” at the down pipe and 2.125” for the remainder. Suggests 2” bore with 1/16” wall.

Re: Engine Oil for Rover engines

Just to finish off the Rover oil saga. I changed over to the Valvolene VR1 as several members had sworn by its suitability and benefits. If the 20-50 mineral oil is good enough for a members 420 BHP 5.2L Rover engine then it must be OK for my 4.6L I have noticed a small improvement in oil pressure p...

Re: Jaguar IRS Modifications

It depends on exactly what dimension you need. Several members have Jag rear suspension including myself. Obviously I’m not keen on dismantling anything but I can get out a tape measure if I know exactly where to measure to.

Re: Cranleigh Classic - August

Hopefully entrants will have been sent an email giving them a plan of the site for Cranleigh. Just in case I can advise we are in zone A which is on the far side of the field e.g opposite side to where you drive in over the bridge. It’s approx where we were a couple of years ago although we were pro...
