The interesting thing for me out of this is the car weights.
I knew my car was overweight, it weighs 1050kg, I don't think I have a front rear split (but I might have if I search), but given the steel spare wheel well I have I would expect it to be heavy at the back.
I notice that Clive's car is fully 100kg lighter than mine.

You might be surprised to hear that mine is 50kg lighter than yours David, even with the big lump of cast iron at the front.

Re: which engines?
That sounds rather light to me Clive, especially with a full tank of fuel.clive wrote:I too have the Ford/Jag combination and my axle weights, with full fuel, are 440 kg front and 515 kg rear.

Consistant and accurate enough to do my SVA which included the Total Weight of Vehicle.
Cheers, Clive.

Re: which engines?
Is that a typical weight of the "breed" Clive, or is yours lighter for some reason?

Re: which engines?
I put my Kirkham on the weighbridge at Mallory a couple of years ago... came to 1015kg, without me and with about 15 litres of fuel. I can't remember whether the car was totally empty (I'd been on track), or whether it was on my way out of the circuit (with spare wheel, trolley jack, tools, weather equipment, etc). I suspect it was empty, but as it was a very wet day I'm pretty sure the hood and sidescreens were on.
Interestingly, the race MGB weighs 863 kilos (without me but with about 20 litres of fuel). The homologated min limit is 830 kg!
