Important: Forum Downtime - Sunday 29th - [ Work Now Complete ]

Post by amulheirn »

Dear members,

On Sunday 29th of November we will be moving the website and forum to a new server. As a result, please note that there will be no forum or website availability for some or all of the day. Normal service will resume on Monday 1st December at the latest.

The reason for this change is several-fold:

1. To take advantage of a more modern hosting and backup system.

2. More control over updating the forum software and bringing the system back within the club's administration.

3. To enable future web-based services for club members.

There will be no loss of data, posts, PMs etc. during this change, but as mentioned previously there will be a brief intermission. If you have any questions, please post them on this thread.

Regards,
T289R Forum Administrator

Dear all -

Just updating you on the forum change that happened this morning:

The work appears to have been successful, but if you notice any issues, please post them on this thread with as much detail as you can.

Changes that have been made:

1. Forum software is upgraded - this means the forum should be more usable on iPads and other tablets.
2. Email notification of post updates is now working
3. Limit of 20 PMs in your inbox is now set to 200
4. Embedded images in posts now pop up in a new window.
5. New groups have been created to denote who is a paying club member, and who is a forum user only. We have yet to synchronise users from the members database into these groups, so please be patient on this.

As I say, please let us know if you notice any problems.

Regards,
Andrew
