OCD wrote:You don't fancy the psychadelic paint job once applied to a 'Mk 3' by the young toff who was killed shortly afterwards (not in the Cobra I hasten to add). According to research by Club Member Peter Tomlinson he was a friend of The Beatles who later immortalised him in the words to 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds'.

Always fancied an 'art car' Cobra like that....it could be done in a vinyl wrap I reckon, so no lasting damage!!

That "toff' was Tara Browne, heir to the Guinness fortune. The Beatles track was 'A day in the Life' off the Sergeant Pepper's album. He met his end in a Lotus Elan ( "He didn't notice that the lights had changed...")

Dudley Edwards and team at the BEV Studio created the artwork:

For me it's classic lines stir images of England, green fields, rolling hills and stately mansions!
I like the look of those not-so-wide tyres under the rear arches - not to many people's taste I understand.
Believe Sunbursts were an option fitted as well as wires? or was that for the 427 only?
What chassis number is it?
The Sunburst wheels were fitted to 427 Cobra due to supply problems with the usual Halibrand wheels. Unfortunately, the Sunbursts were also made by Halibrand, so the supply still remained a problem.

Although the Halibrands fill the arches better, I have to admit that I think the wires suit the car better above.

Both the blue and black 289's are one and the same 6124 said to be in Guardsman Blue I wouldn't know if it's the correct Guardsman blue..

Thank you!

I suspect there probably isn't a correct Guardsman Blue definitively...
