I thought that the assembly of the diff into the rear suspension was a right b******* of a job?
What's wrong with the one already installed?
Wrong ratio?

Re: Another new bit
Peter, the one that's in is a Jag diff with adapter plates - this is a Kirkham 'correct' casing, with the nose mounts and an improved ratio. I've gone from 3.07 to 3.31, despite David Kirkham desperately trying to convince me to go with the original 289 ratio of 3.54. Basically, my feeling was that when you're in as deep as I am you might as well keep digging. Or something like that.
Paul, ....yes, isn't it?

Nice one Rog! Ally casing? What are your gearbox ratios?

Understand your preference for an Ali unit without adapters and with a better ratio. 3.07 does sound a bit high.
Best of luck with the fitting.
Don't forget the speedo gearing.

Re: Another new bit
Do you think the hand written "900" denotes their 900th diff? Kirkham generally write the car number on the different components in marker pen during the build, so it seems likely. That would be reassuring if it were the case.
Are you going to paint it in red oxide?

Re: Another new bit
Colin, the T10 has the original L gear set. Yes, ally 'box casing - cast iron not available.
Peter, the speedo drive gear is in the tailshaft on the T10. I haven't calibrated it yet anyway, so that's still to do. May need a different colour drive gear, otherwise it's off to Speedycables for an instrument recalibration.
Paul, I wondered about that... and I have to admit that it got a coat of red Glyptal almost immediately! And black for the new mounting brackets. Bit of a shame as they were all nice polished ally.
Hopefully get it in before the LMC, just depends on how the engine work goes as that's the priority.
