Paul
If you have any concern on authenticity of a Hawk chassis I would expect Gerry at Hawk cars would only be too happy to confirm if the number is correct and when it was made. From memory to year is included in the number.

Decoding a Hawk chassis number.

The following number is made up for the purpose of this description.
HAWKSTSLC010910651

HAWK – Manufacturer.
STSL – Chassis built by “Street Steel” of High Wycombe, Bucks.
C01 – Cobra style chassis (As opposed to Hawk Stratos etc.)
09 – Month of manufacture. i.e. September
10 – Year of manufacture. i.e. 2010
651 – sequential number of vehicle

Other numbering schemes may exist.

Hawk chassis numbers are found in two locations;-
1. On the top of the nearside chassis tube in the engine bay.
2. Forward spring hanger just in front of the offside rear wheel.

Hope that helps

Hi Dave - that's good info - I did wonder what it all meant. Would you mind putting it on the Wiki for future reference? Let me know if you have trouble. I guess it should go in the Hawk build info section here: http://wiki.the289register.com/doku.php?id=tips:hawk

Cheers,

Andy

Thanks Dave

There's a very amusing story behind why I asked....but I will wait until it's fully bottomed out before I spill the beans :)
