Re: Hawk 289 FIA
Congrats Phil... What an epic motor!
I had a good crawl over it at the NEC, you have certainly bagged a Beaut.

So that's what happened to the soft top. When Alan and I built it, there was definitely a hood.catsx11 wrote:Your patience was rewarded - a really lovely car.
I saw this car and owner a couple of years ago and bought the soft top that belonged to it.
It's a very nice car (or at least it was 10 years ago), and you should have plenty of fun in it Phil. From memory, we ended up using a Scat crank as the original 302 was beyond machining. All the SVA electrics have been replaced with the correct (Autosparks) cotton-wound harness too, if I remember rightly. Nice 3.54 Jag LSD diff, too. I do remember driving it to Peterborough DVLA for its registration inspection (Alan was working), in hearing-aid gelcoat and with no numberplates, a fun round trip of about 50 miles. It was pretty quick...

I think they're with somebody else now...catsx11 wrote:The then owner changed the screen rake and so the soft-top didn't fit any more.v8junkie wrote:Was wondering why there was no soft top with it

My friend used to have this car, I was within a blink of buying it from him before I got mine.
