I thought that an AC289 had a big arches not slab side. That is to say a Mk 3 ( 427 ) body but with a 289 engine as sold to Europe when Shelby had lost interest in 1965 as he was involved in the GT40 program.

Correct Peter. I was merely alluding to the 'optimum' combo of MkIII chassis with 289 powerplant.

Indeed. Also, whilst we're on the subject, there's no accetped definition of a MkII, either - or a 'slabside'. Hate that term: 'Slabside'.
And the AC289 had slightly narrower hips that a 427, and wire wheels as standard... but we are digressing somewhat from the point here.
It`s still a 'thank you, but no' to CSX8001, at anything over £75k-ish...

I would also take issue with the 289 engine being "optimum". But then I would, wouldn't I?
There is a huge amount of misinformation about big block Cobras and many armchair "experts" will tell you with complete conviction that they're nose heavy and don't go round corners. The reality is that an original 427 Cobra (with a 427 as opposed to a 428) has a 48%/52% front/rear weight distribution i.e. a very slight rearward bias and therefore, pretty much perfect balance.

...BUT...I have spoken to several drivers, who have driven CSX2***, CSX3*** and AC289, who`s opinions I hold in high regard, and they would chose the 289 Coilsprung Cobra as 'BOTB'.
