Shelby 289 CSX8001 - Price?

Post by Duggan »

Interested in people's thoughts on value - what do you think it's worth (btw - it's up for £150k)?

Thanks

It's an odd car with some very odd "features", not least of which are what appear to be steel wheels with Halibrand style wheel trims.
It also sits very strangely and far too high.

The ad now says it's sold.

It's still for sale (not sure what is going on at the Hairpin Company - returned no calls and I had to track the car down via another source - certainly not in the business of selling cars!)

The wheels are magnesium, with a black painted rim, which makes the centres look a little odd.

I saw the car on Saturday and now trying to figure out how much it is actually worth - or at least where the market is / what to compare it against?

Mmmm..I'm not so sure about the wheels. You can see the tyre valve behind the "Halibrand" centre piece, which clearly stands proud of the actual rim.

I would say you guys have very good eyesight to pick up on some of that detail. Mind you I am only viewing on a small iPad.
More obvious anomalies to me are an FIA style offset fuel filler and oil cooler slot but otherwise a basic 289 slabside not FIA doors and arches.
I expect it is a Ali replica to someone's individual preferences and not a 1964 car.

Thanks for the responses. I'm not the biggest fan of the wheel rims, but in the flesh it's a great looking car - not sure why there are comments about it not looking right / non-FIA doors etc - it's a slab-side and not a FIA car?

Anyway - beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that - what's its value? Can it be compared vs a MK IV for price? Anything else / other pointers?

Yes, of course it's a slab side and has that nice slim look. I'm certainly not knocking the Mk2 shape as I like it. The query I made was regarding whether it was an original as it had an offset fuel filler which is used on the FIA model. It also has the quad IDF's which were also used on the FIA racers.
If it's not an original then this seriously affects it's value. It would be no more expensive than a Kirkham.

Thanks Peter.

Per the ad though, it's a Shelby Continuation car from 2000 with a 1964 Hi-Po 289 - so a continuation car.
