Re: Your Second 289?

On the premise of the thread title being amended slightly to read 'Your first 289'' I'd be inclined towards 2518 parked next to my own car (when it eventually arrives), as this 289 is just on the right side of subtly menacing and would be the ideal compliment to a street specification Cobra of the larger block variety...
Of course, any of those featured cars would actually be very welcome indeed in the Marshall garage!

Re: Your Second Complimentary Cobra?
I think Mrs Marshall would beg to differ - a double garage is absolutely sufficient in her view and deal is, I can have only what I can garage (and that relates specially to home and elsewhere - she's very hot on the small print).catsx11 wrote:Marsh wrote:Alan
ps
I don't think the Marshall's garage could ever be big enough!
So, on one side of the garage is the space that the Cobra will occupy at some point in my lifetime and on the other side is an often movable feast...
News just in though - you can stick a fork in me - because I am genuinely done...

Re: Your Second 289?
It's interesting to see that both No 1 and 66 have FIA fuel fillers and exhausts but do not have the correct cut away doors of an FIA model. Assuming that the are indeed original AC products they have clearly been modified including of course the wheel arches ( sorry fenders)
I think my fantasy garage would include something Classic other than another 289, but obviously any original 289 would not be dismissed.
Perhaps you could do what my monthly magazine is doing and ask for suggestions for a fantasy garage up to a certain value to keep out the mega cars.

Re: Your Second 289?
I wouldn't have another Cobra. I'd far rather have a wide spectrum of interesting stuff, like the current list - Series 2 Landie, Cooper S, Mustang FB, BMW S54 M Coupe, 2CV van etc. It's fun going from 6400cc and 400bhp to 602cc with 28bhp (or it would be if I got the deuche finished).
For a couple of years I had two Healey 3000s sitting next to each other in my garage. One was a concours-winning 1963 BJ7 in black with red trim, restored to exactly-as-delivered specification. The other was another '63 BJ7, restored to be a composite replica of the '64 Sebring car with elements of DD300, the Le Mans 3000 MkI in BRG, be-Webered and with a fixed white hardtop. I ended up using the black one all the time, resulting in the sale of the green one a couple of years after completion with very few miles on it.

The heat has beaten them off at the moment - understandable as the next bit's the roof!catsx11 wrote:His dream garage is actually being built at the moment!morgy wrote:Surely that would be a different thread, Your dream Garage
