Are the Hawk Ace and Hawk 289 differences just the front grill/valance and wheel arch lips does anyone know?
I know the 289 FIA is different again.
Thanks

Re: Ace/289 body differences
Simon, I suggest you log into the Hawk web site to see the visual differences.
The Ace has totally smooth and flush sides ( like a Healy 3000) as well as the moustache around the grill.
The Mk 2 Cobra 289 has small lips to the arches whereas the FIA has quite large wheelarch extensions and the back of the doors are cut away to match the curve of the rear wheel arch. Also the FIA usually has two protrusions on the boot lid for the suitcase to fit.
Ref any other body differences I don’t know if size of the cockpit changes and the depth of boot lid. Suggest you email Hawk cars for a definitive answer.
I would guess Hawk uses the same chassis for all three but don’t know that for sure.

Re: Ace/289 body differences
Thanks Peter, yes I though those were the differences. The Hawk site states that all body styles share a common chassis.

Re: Ace/289 body differences
I would have thought that the centre section of 289 & Ace bodies would be the same, with alternative moulds for the sides and nose being attached to suit. I don’t think Gerry does a ‘long-boot’ version of the Ace, but could do the ‘RS’ Ace by using Ace sides and a 289 nose.
Hawk 289 FiA...AT LAST!!!
Re: Ace/289 body differences
Oh yes , the RS the best of the lot.
Slim sides and Cobra grill.
I would have preferred that one.
Bucking originality by having a V8 under the bonnet is a more of a Q car like the Sunbeam Tiger.

Re: Ace/289 body differences
That would be my next build if these current legislations don’t materialise (and I’ve not run out of money!)
Re: Ace/289 body differences
Evening chaps, sorry just seen this thread, the bottom rear and front wings and rear of cills differ on the two cars although the nose is the same as the Cobra. don't know if that helps?

BTW I can take photos of the differences as my shell is a 289 converted to Ace if needed.
