My FIA (MGB rear axle) has the look of a 4x4 about it at the rear. Can it be lowered? See pics for current setup

Re: Lowering my FIA
Hi Simon,
The springs normally settle quite a bit but if you want to lower the back end you can add to the aluminium spacers above the axle. You may need to replace the cap head bolt that bolts the spacers to the springs for a longer one.
My car currently runs without any spacers and sits lower than that .
This reduces the overall gap between the axle and bump stops too, just be aware.
Alternatively just fill the boot

Re: Lowering my FIA
I removed the 3 lower leafs, inverted them and mounted them on top of the main leaf, no lowering block required.

Simon,
I set my chassis at 165 to ground at the front and 178 at the rear but note the front dim is taken approx 100 mm in front of the windscreen where the chassis starts to bend upwards for the front suspension.
Gerry says that we all have our cars too low so suggest you let the car settle a bit before lowering it. The plus side will be that you shouldn’t contravene the minimum dimension of lights to ground for the IVA!

Re: Lowering my FIA
My springs had the lower 3 leafs separate, only the 3 top ones were held by clamps / cleats, so I just reassembled them in a different order.

Re: Lowering my FIA
At the NEC, I noted that the rear lights on my FIA are at least 2” higher than John Coward’s!
Can’t lower mine at the moment as it won’t clear the hump in the drive!
