FIA with excellent paint finish

Post by KevinW »

Have just seen this:

The paint finish looks superb. Not sure who's car this is - is this a standard Sovereign paint finish? is it Guardsman/Viking Blue?

Sorry can’t open the link to the photos but can advise the colour of my FIA car.
It’s not either Guardsman or Viking Blue but GM ( USA) Atlantic Blue. The spray shop was not Sovereign but a company that Gerry had used in Haslemere but no longer exist as far as I know.
It was meant to be Viking Blue but the closest the sprayshop said they could get to it was this.
A shade darker than Viking and a shade lighter than Guardsman.
I wasn’t very happy at day one but grew to like it within in a few days helped by the fact that I could get on and bolt the car back together and get the trim done and car back on the road.
Hope that helps.

Thanks guys,
I confess I have had a few people say they like the particular shade of blue.
If you look at it in the flesh the quality is not that fantastic. I wanted to get the front of the rear arches cleaned up and ‘Chips Away’ initially quoted a good price but then backed out worried that they wouldn’t be able to blend in.
So I still have rather a lot of patia in that area.
The answer will provably to have the rear of the car resprayed from the doors back.
Another year!
Advice for any FIA owner is to get the front of the rear wings protected with 3M film as soon as the new paint has dried properly.
