Just been informed by a friend that Blockley are now doing a 215/70 that would suit an FIA-type car. Prices received are below (bear in mind the date of posting - best check the latest price direct). https://www.blockleytyre.com

Re: 215/70 tyres from Blockley
Thanks Andrew,
The main problem has always been getting the rear tyres.
Wanting 255 x 60 but not getting them in a decent speed rating. Those of us with early 8.5” rims go for the Avon’s at 245 x 60 as being the nearest achievable. Then of course it’s needing to match up with the same design/ quality on the front.
Later FIA models with the 9.5” rims have more choice.

Just a suggestion:

Tyre can be fitted with lettering on the inside of the wheel if needed.

Thanks Kevin,
I’ll would certainly consider Northants when I have worn out my Avon’s.
I somehow think that the Galaxy’s wouldn’t have the same road holding capability as the CR6ZZ’s

Hi Peter, early reports over at the CRC site suggest that the Galaxys are far superior to US rubber, and possibly not quite as sticky as the Avons, but they are 2-3 times cheaper, and still represent excellent performance. I'll be going wit this size tyre on the Crendon when i get around to fitting the Knock-ons,
Re: 215/70 tyres from Blockley
I'll always fit Avon CRZ66's, the price of the tyre's are far outweighed by the value of my car or the repair bill's!!!!!! why skimp on cheap tyres???? I don't think any tyre available can match the Avon's for grip and still be road legal. As for wear rate my last set lasted 9 years at about 5000 miles per year, but that is with a properly designed and set up suspension.
