Good to hear from you Peter, glad that you're giving the MGC some beans! I too use earplugs in the race car and in-ear headphones when driving the Cob which typically serves both functions as Clive describes.

PS I've PM'd you about another matter...

Cheers,
Colin

As Clive says, the earplugs are not for noise, they are for pressure drop across the outer ear. As wind travels past the ear, a drop in pressure is created which puts strain on the eardrum.
Having spent 35 years using a high-speed dental turbine, 40+ years sitting in the heavy brass section of several symphony orchestras and 45 years playing with petrol engines, many unsilenced, I have a most interesting range of tinnitus frequencies going on - not helped by Bernoulli of the ears.

I tend to use iPod headphones, (occasionally with radio on for traffic flashes etc) on long journeys, mainly to drown out wind noise & diff. (Have yet to do a long trip sans-hardtop...Nesh!)

Interesting comment on the effect of wind on the drivers RH ear. I have tended to ignor it for the most part relying on the side deflector to protect me.
I can certainly agree with Clive's comment on noise level when the hood is up. Unfortunately the recent Roses tour was a little damp especially for the long journey both ways from down South. My passenger nearly abandoned ship. Bearing in mind the amount of rain we had that is a bit close to reality.
Can anyone recommend an inter com system so you can speak to your passenger without shouting above the din.

I had this in my Daytona which had very loud cabin noise and once set up was great. Mr Blore has the same thing albeit with improved headphones

Thank you Dale for the referral to starcom1. I have been in contact with them and what they offer seem just the job for the MGC roof up or down. Interestingly my wife. a retired doctor who specialised, among other things in audiology and who I thought was going to be dead against spending yet more money, said we should us them in the BMWs we both have so that she won't have to listen to me saying "what" or "pardon" all the time!

Colin did you get my return PM?
