Lister stationary engine

Post by Roger King »

I don't know if any of you have experience of Lister stationary petrol engines, or traditional narrowboat engines, but this kid is incredible:

Sounds a bit like Dale's (currently) stationary engine!

It's cleverly observed - under load, over-run, very convincing

Thanks Roger
Yes, very good impression and whilst a bit fast reving definitely sounded correct.
A while back I was taken to hear a narrow boat engine by a friend who thought I would appreciate the slow melodic note.
Indeed the highly polished beast was very smooth at ridiculously low tick over which emphasised by the lifting and shutting of the flap of the vertical exhaust stack.
I think they are flat out at less than 200rpm.
I will be on a narrow boat holiday shortly but unfortunately it will have a modern diesel.
