As a professional company, these guys should know better than this. They’ve not IVA’d the car and are just using the “donor” logbook. If any of us were to try this with our cars, we’d get prosecuted for it. They are leaving themselves open to legal action from both the DVLA and a potential owner in the future.

In trying to up the quality image of their work and avoid being classed as a kit car, do you not think that they have just omitted to mention that they have put it through the IVA or have I missed something?

They haven’t put it through IVA.
I asked them and they said “it doesn’t need it as it uses the id of the donor”

In that case it’s very worrying. How did they come to that conclusion when the car had changed appearance so much. Saloon to drop top.
It even has a new space frame chassis. The only parts from the donor would be front suspension and engine/ transmission.

It cannot be MOT exempt as it’s been modified. I thought that to be MOT exempt the car must be 40 years or older and specifically must be unmodified. This one has a new chassis as well as bodywork.
My car certainly needs an MOT despite being historic and VED exempt.

The 1976 donor Jaguar would not have had a separate chassis. This car does have a new separate chassis so I would expect it to need an IVA test to be UK road registered. I have no doubt it is a very well engineered and presented car but I can’t see how it can currently be road legal for the UK. Buyer beware.

...for the purposes of a quick sale, caveat emptor!
Perhaps export to the USA might remove the issues we have here, but a more honest add would state 'for export'.
