Hi Guys,
The important difference with our events are that there is no reward of any variety to the entrants for completing the route in a prescribed time, collecting clues or driving the shortest distance. The route guidance notes are merely there to help the entrants get to another place of interest for us to continue our socialising.
I am glad we feel that there is a way forward.
If Paul is happy with the interpretation of the wording do we still need to write to the MSA?

Not as far as I can see Peter. We're free to do our own thing.

It strikes me T289R is better off not being a member of the MSA.
I am a member as I have a competition licence and the blue book that comes out each year is an absolute minefield to understand with regard to regulations for cars.
In the speed hillclimb world it has recently been turned upside down for members who compete in small single seaters such as Jedi cars. They are all having to have their rollover hoops replaced despite having been acceptable for years.
I am waiting to see if my Radical will be ok - although I suspect it will, one never knows.

You'll remember David that racers with 289s and Aces had the same problem a couple of years ago? In reality, it actually only applied to open top racers (and some with the 'bubble' hardtops) because by that time almost every Cobra (and some Aces) ran a Le Mans style hardtop anyway, and like my MGB they had already built in a full cage underneath the hardtop. Despite that however, the ACOC campaigned on behalf of members and eventually had that ruling overturned (if you'll excuse the pun ).

Not as far as I'm concerned now.

Good result and thank you to everyone for their constructive help in clearing this up.

Good result, shows that after sufficient discussion we can work things out.
Th limiting factor now is hotel rooms and the practicality of all eating together. May well need more than one table but again I'm something can be worked out.
So Colin how many do you hope will be on your tour.

Currently sitting at 19 Peter, although a lot can happen in 17 months! I think capping it at 20 cars is sufficient, don't you?

Colin
I agree.
As mentioned earlier you have to consider both hotels and the eating arrangements. Trying to make it work with a group that's too big will probably take some of the enjoyment away from the event.
The big plus point of 289 events is being able to have a good chin wag with like minded people and I think it important we keep that close knit family effect.
Best of luck with the organising.
As you have now discovered 1st hand from the navigators seat there is plenty of scope for errors. So if you want a different pair of eyes checking paperwork let us know.
