Got another hour on the car today, dropped the slave cyl off again, and the problem became visible:

Oh goody. The pivot post has punched through the clutch fork.

A bit of Googlage shows that this is not an uncommon problem, and that a recommended mod is to weld a plate across the fork at the pivot point, or even better, buy a ready-modded piece.

All new parts including uprated fork, £39 delivered from Rimmers. Not too painful! :|

A bit of a fiddly job if I recall from BT's gearbox.
Cheers, Clive.

(If I'm not here I'm in my workshop or on the golf course!)

Sorry to read 'bout your troubles Nick, what a pain.

I dont think we've got a section on the wiki for 'troubleshooting' have we? A single post with the best of your words and photos could help kick that off.
