I'm in need of some help.
Have removed leaf springs to fit poly bushes as part of a general suspension upgrade.
The front bush, the big one, is proving a real pig to get back into the chasis mounting as it is SO tight. The new bush is in the spring OK, but I'm not making much headway refitting the spring to the chasis.
Does anyone have any tips as to how to refit this please.

The springs are now back in place. No easy solution here.
The bushes that I am using are the blue Super Pro ones supplied by Moss, really excellent quality.
What you have to do is this.
1) Once the new bush is in the front of the spring, attach the rear of the spring by a heavy duty cable tie to the rear spring mount for support.
2) Offer up the front of the spring to the front mounting point.
3) Using a scissors jack, jack the spring into place. The bush will not fit first time. You will need to repeat this a few times until you compress the bush enough so that it slides into the appeture.
4) Once compessed the bush will still be a VERY tight fit.
5) Now the fun bit, trying to get the bush alined with the hole in the chassis to get the bolt through the spring and out the other side.
The one thing you need here is patience. after much pulling, jacking, pushing etc, you will get things to aline and get the bolt through, but it is trial and error. It took me 2hrs to aline each bolt !!
Not a job I would recomend that you do evey day, but well worth the effort, as with all new Super Pro bushes fitted to the rear, there is a much more positive feel to the ride.

Just a thought Bill, did you wait till the car was on the ground and the weight on the suspension before finally tightening everything up? If you tighten things up before taking it off the jack/stands then the bushes will be under strain all the time and will wear quicker and probably squeak too!
Cheers, Clive.
