Hi, thanks David , that's basically what I thought I understood from John Eales so that's good news! , the headers are the ones supplied by Gerry Hawkridge, I'm in-between Preston/ Blackburn Lancashire if that's anywhere near? :D

As I understand it, if the engine is pre '73, when it goes for its IVA test then it is examined as a "smoke test" only to see if the engine is blowing out smoke. If it's a '74 or later engine then it will have to pass an emissions test. The age of the engine will need to be verified by one of VOSA's recognised sources., hope that helps

HI and thankyou, I think mine will have to pass an emisions test but this is less stringent pre 86?

Hi and thanks for the much appreciated feedback, the body/chassis should be ready for collection Jan/Feb and as I am limited for space I am trying to get as much of the build completed as possible.
SPEC: Hawk 289 fia rolled arches.
4.0 Rover built by John Eales with economy driveability in mind as I plan to use the car.
218 mild road cam
Webber 500 /performer manifold
217bhp at 5000rpm 257.30 lbs/ft torque at 3500rpm. 250lbs/ft at 3000rpm
MGB rear axle ,front and rear suspension, to be upgraded in the future.

HI, Thanks for all the help and advice, the car should be ready for collection Jan/Feb from Hawk Cars and as I am limited for space I want to Iron out as many problems as I can before the car arrives. I am posting these pictures for your appreciated feedback, I will upload the pictures in several posts as I have tried to add them in one go and lost the lot!
SPEC:
Hawk 289 fia rolled arches
Rover 4.0 V8 built by John Eales so I can use the car on a daily basis with drivability in traffic and decent fuel economy.
217BHP@ 5500 RPM 257lbs/ft torque@3500rpm...................250lbs/ft @3200rpm.
218 camshaft[mild road]... webber 500 on performer manifold8.
MGB back axle..MGB suspension.. Lt77 gearbox...Triumph 2000 callipers...V8 discs [ upgrade to Hawk suspension /brakes in the future] maybe uprated MGB v8 diff.
