Looks great Paul.

Is there much light bleed between the upper and lower halves? Would a middle divider plate be worth including to prevent that?

The LED's are very close behind the lens and they're directional, so I don't think that there will be much bleed between the upper and lower halves.

Doesn't look like there is from the 'action' pictures.

Damn, they`re bright...but behind the reflector, the light is seriously dissipated.

OK... I`m officially withdrawing from the LED development lark...Despite being very bright out of the lens or head-on, testing on the car proved most disappointing, almost invisible from 20 degrees up/down/left/right of dead centre, when placed either behind the reflector or stop/tail segments of the lens.
Fingers crossed Paul or DB`s versions come out at a reasonable price, unlike the insane £450-a-set EUROPA version.

Ah, you've discovered VW Passat (and some buses) disease. This is the main concern with LEDs, which don't radiate light well.

We're building another prototype with 50% brighter yellow LED's.

Watch this space.

Hi Nige,

I don't yet I'm afraid. However, the mounting will be no different to any other L542 rear light and if you already have separate indicators, they will be a straight replacement from a wiring perspective.

Any chance we can have a demonstration at Silverstone?
Nothing quite like seeing it for real.

Just to add even more confusion to the mix.
My (half) conversion is about to go into production.
