Within certain parameters, surely they will be specific to each car and driver?

Would changing over to Gerry's coil over suspension give you what you need.? I think its a more adjustable unit. Certainly mine sits lower at the front without problems.

There is more adjustment with the tubular setup, but I found it would still only give around 7deg caster, which is correct for an original, and an MGB, from memory.

Nope, not as they came out of the showroom. Rubber- bushed wishbones etc.

Well
You could remove the lever arm, fabricate an upper bracket to hold the top of a coilover and incorporate an upper wishbone spindle, adjust the height of the pivot point to improve geometry, and fabricate a pair of upper wishbones, weld a pickup on the spring pan for the bottom of the coilover, fit negative camber lower wishbones and if you want adjustable camber slot the holes and make a cam adjustment there, cut the anti roll bar drop link, thread it and screw on a rod end to get rid of the horrible lower joint, select a suitable damper and figure out a spring rate.

And after lunch go for a drive :)
Early B.R.A. Warmed 3.9 Rover, 5 sp, 3.07 rear, Fully adjustable front suspension with AVO coilovers, 4 link rear suspension AVO coilovers and Panhard bar, Big 2 pot front calipers, rear discs, servo'd, adjustable front / rear bias, scruffy paint job !
