T5 speedo drive gear

Post by John H »

Anyone know of a UK supplier of tremec t5 speedo drive gears. Speedy cables can supply the cable but not the drive gear end. I can only find USA suppliers on the web.

Have you tried Real Steel. Sure they sell spare parts for Tremec T5 boxes.

John, I ended up also in the US to get this, but it was in 2008, maybe things have changed!

Interesting, according to that link they only have the yellow gear. You will need to ascertain which driven gear (not drive gear, that's very different) you need. The different colours give different tooth counts. They are a stock Ford part,T5 box is irrelevant. Same for toploader etc.

John, I did get my driven speedo gear, 19 tooth, from: www.transmissioncenter.net in Sep. 2008 for 13 $ + 3$ shipping.
Good luck!

Thanks all....I will give real steel a call as the one listed is not right for me. Otherwise I will need to get from the USA! Fortunately I am there again with work in October! :?

IIRC I bought a yellow gear from real steel and speedy cables calibrated the speedo to suit the output. I measured the circumference of the rear wheels and counted the number of cable revolutions per wheel revolution. The speedo was then Bob on.
Speedy provided the cable up front to the measurements I gave them keeping the bends as big a radius as I could. You just need to advise them that it's a T5 gear output at one end and whichever speedo you plan to use at the other end.
