A brief word on heater plumbing, in the wake of Colin's problems with no heat appearing in his Cobra's heater circuit following an engine change.
One heater hose connects the water pump lower side connection (next to the bypass hose) to the heater matrix. The return hose is connected to the other heater pipe, traverses the top of the intake manifold and is connected to a threaded union drilled into the water passage at the front of the intake manifold very near the thermostat housing. DO NOT connect this to the rear of the intake manifold, where there is a similar tapped hole on some manifolds (Colin's is a Weiand), as the water passages at the rear of the manifold are blanked off by the casting and do not connect with the water jacket.
That is all,
Roger

Re: Colin's coolant crisis
Strange, my rear water passage is open and heater works!

There may be variations with a different manifold. Stock Ford and Hipo are blocked off.

Yes Roger, I checked. I have a Professional products "Crosswind" medium hi-rise manifold, rear water passage and four corner water connection points.
Most intake manifolds seem to have water cross over only at the front.
