Anyone used a Kent H218 cam in a Rover engine?

Post by agnoraan »

As it says in the title, has anyone had any experience of this cam in a Rover V8 and how does it perform? What's the drieveability and fuel consumption like? How would it compare against a Piper 270 cam?

Any thoughts or opinions appreciated
Thanks in advance..Nige

Thanks Migge, but I've decided to keep the Piper cam and put it back in. What a waste of time that was

Hi Nige,

Sorry to be late to the party but I've been away for a few days.
Some years ago Component Car magazine had an article on this and from what I can recall the H218 was the cam of choice in a road going car, anything more radical and you are looking at other engine mods, ie solid lifters, valve clearance etc.
I bought my cam from RPi Engineering along with the 500cfm carb, and when I questioned them about it they said it was their own cam and was equivalent to the H218.
Dont know if that sets your at rest, but hope it helps.
