URGENT MESSAGE RE FRONT SUSPENSION

Post by clive »

An important message from Gerry Hawkridge.

Dear Members of 289 register, Could I ask you to forward this little bit
of info around to club members/owners of Hawk 289 cars with "long"
tubular wishbone suspension.
When fitting the longer type of wishbones, it is imperative that you use
extended track rod ends. It is sometimes necessary to cut up to half
inch from the threaded ends of track rods. I am aware that some
builders have fitted standard track rod ends. It is essential that
there is enough thread engagement. The golden rule is 1.5D - that
means the amount of thread engagement should be one and a half times
the thread diameter.
Best regards Gerry
Cheers, Clive.

(If I'm not here I'm in my workshop or on the golf course!)
