Clive,
Sorry can't help with that size but if you want to compromise I would probably go for the Vredestein as a known quality brand.
Are the fronts definitely dodgy for the MOT.
Could you not swap them to the rear and even up the wear.
At the risk of teaching my elders have you checked the toe in and camber before you add new tyres and wear them the same. Just surprised they are worn on the inside rather than the outer edge.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the reply, I'm pretty certain the fronts will be extremely borderline for the MOT and they were originally fitted on the rear so swapping them wouldn't really be an option.
Having scoured many forums over the weekend, the Blockleys seem to get the best reviews so I'm pretty certain that is the route I will be taking. I will give them a ring this morning to see what they say and i will be checking the toe-in when they are fitted.

Are the Blockley tyres "E" marked? I also don`t see any measurements, load index, rolling radius aso. They just say they are "V" rated. Has this been tested by an independent organisation?
Just to check if they would be road legal in Germany as the other brands are.
I'm not sure what the markings are, but from talking to them this morning these tyres meet all the proper UK regs. They were very helpful so I would suggest that you email them to confirm if they are road legal in Germany.
Cheers, Clive.

Hi Clive,
just checked with a dealer who is selling them over here.
They have no EU label, so can only be used on cars registered before the first of October 1990.
Karl
Tyres arrived today and they have the following markings.
E4 8281909
DOT 9DUS
Max load 600kg (1323 lbs) at max pressure 205kPa (36 psi)
Richard Stubberfield spoke to Julian re your concerns and his reply was, "The Blockley radials have EU tyre labelling, so pre or post 1990 makes no difference." Richard also thinks that it is the three and five tread pattern tyres that don't have the E markings as the are primarly for pre-war cars.
I attach a couple of pics of the markings for your info.
Cheers, Clive.

Sorry gents, the "E" mark and the EU tyre lable are two different things. Please go to Wikipedia and check "EU tyre label"
The Blockey tyres don`t have that, so can only be used on cars first registered before Oct. 1990 That is EU law, so as you are leaving you are not bothered. Just when you export to the EU the manufacturer should know, or he is leaving it to his Importers.
If the tyre is okay Clive I could use it in the future when my MK2 is ready, with first registration 1965 it is old enough!
Regards
Karl
