What have people done for a handbrake warning switch on their Hawks? Any advice and especially pictures would be great.
Thanks
Simon

Re: Hawk handbrake warning switch
I bought a standard MGB item from (I think) Brown and Gammons.
I had to chop the plug off and solder the wire to Gerry's loom, then heatshrink over the top. The switch is just a single-pole, single-throw (SPST) button, so maybe you could get it cheaper from CPC or RS components.

I can't find the switch I used on RS anymore. It looks as if suitable switches now come in packs of 25 so you'll probably be better off with the switch Andy recommends from B&G.

Thanks gents; is the switch an “open when pushed” type?

Re: Hawk handbrake warning switch
Hi Simon, yes the circuit is made when handbrake on so when off the handbrake compresses switch which breaks circuit. I think I got my switch from local MGB shop. The switch is wired into the same brake circuit that the brake fluid reservoirs are wired into. They are the same, I.e the switch is off until your fluid level is low when it then lights dash light. There are 2 reservoirs and so they have to be wired in parallel so that when either one runs low the circuit is made. Hope your build going ok. Give me a shout any time if your scratching head on a Job. I had a few things which stalled me for a while, wiring one of them, but actually most things were pretty straightforward to sort and a chat with someone who's been there already can help maintain the momentum. Cheers.
