Washer jets

Post by amulheirn »

Can anyone tell me, is this the correct order in which to install this type of washer jet?

My current thinking is that all parts are installed on the outside of the bodywork. The ball part of the jet is basically clamped between the chrome bezel and the plate with 'top' stamped in it.

Any corrections or advice appreciated!

The second pic is from a Bizzarrini who used to had the same jets! As Daimler SP250 too.

Thanks Migge. And are they mounted as I've shown - bezel, jet, plate and rubber all sit on the top of the fibreglass?

I don't know for sure but on aluminium I guess that the counterplate sits under the body panel. On GRP it makes no sense and it should sit like in your drawing, because the GRP is much thicker.

That's how I fitted mine Andy, can't see how it could be any other way!

How would it be on an aluminium car?
Bezel > Jet > Rubber > Al-Body > Plate
And on which diameter would you drill the hole for it?

I think it would be the same as in my diagram. The top bezel, and the plate clamp the ball part of the jet to keep it in a fixed position.

I made a counter-bracket (if that's the right term) with two riv-nuts in it to go inside. This was just to make it easier to get the screws into really and to serve as a washer to spread the load).

From memory, I drilled an 8mm hole for the jet to go through.

It ended up like this.

I think if you put the plate inside the car you might find the jet is not held in position firmly enough.

Cheers
