Glove box finishing
Glove box finishing
Afternoon all, currently thinking of leaving the glovebox open rather than enclose it, what have people used to line the inside of this?
Regards
Ken

Re: Glove box finishing
Hi Ken,
Not many people leave the glove box open and those that do usually use a similar material to the dash. Those that use Gerrys insert get a trimming company to make a stitched insert with a single seam running horizontally.
Ultimately you do what you like
I made a deeper insert using vacuum formed Polypropylene. I made a tool and went to a vacuum forming company to make a form. Then made a glove box lid similar to original cars. Just one of the many interpretations and solutions.

Re: Glove box finishing
Looks like Roger King made a specially-shaped back-box for his:

Looks like Jerry Edmans is at the same stage as you too: viewtopic.php?f=3&p=31046#p31046
I could do with getting the glovebox sorted, but it'll be a little while before I get round to it. Might come and see yours when you're done Ken!
Cheers,
Andy

Re: Glove box finishing
Mine is a similar shape to Rogers and it makes the glove box much more useable. I've even got a cigarette lighter power socket at the deepest part. Ideal for connecting sat nav's and phone chargers.

Aha... Now that's a really bloody good idea.
Did you have to add another fuse to the loom for the lighter, or did you tap into one of the brown wires coming from the starter motor and use an inline fuse?

Just used an inline fuse holder from Martin Santos at ECS
