air filter hose near exhaust

Post by kenv »

Gents, hope you can advise, I've got a 70mm hose that runs about 50mm from the exhaust due to lack of space in that area. I presume I'll need to fabricate a heat shield? I know the engine bay gets quite hot, but wondered if this was too hot!

Ken, the minimum you should do is to lag the exhaust with some suitable exhaust wrap. Have you got a remote air filter that it needs an inlet hose. Most people have the filters mounted directly to the carb. Would you not have separate pancake filters on each carb as I believe you will be running a straight 6 Triumph unit.

Hi Peter, thanks for that, I was advised that the engines run better if the original system were used and weren't good with the pancake type. The exhaust wrap is good, I had forgotten about that, Thanks again.
