Gerry's rear axle parts

Post by simonjrwinter »

At the end of November last year, I purchased from Gerry the Jag rear axle conversion kit.
The kit was missing "4 shock mounting rods and nuts" and Gerry emailed his supplier to ask him to post them directly to me. Despite several emails to both Gerry and his supplier, these have not been forthcoming (and in the current climate, I don't expect them to be)
So I am looking at sourcing these parts myself...trouble is, I have no idea what they are (apart from the above description) nor what dimensions they are.
Can anyone help? any part completed kit builders that have the parts they could measure for me?
Thank you.

Hi Simon, I've only recently fitted mine and they are still accessible.
I'll pull one out and take some pictures and measurements.
I waited ages for my kit but at least it was complete when it arrived.

Are they not stock Jaguar parts? Upper or lower?

This is the lower shock mounting shaft. Call Martin Robey and ask for the nuts and washers to go with it. Or take it to your hardware store and get nuts and washers.
I suspect they will be either 7/16 or 1/2 UNF.
Assuming it is the bottom mount you are after.

Hawk may use this Shaft on the top as well ? I am sure you can figure out something. Find out the shock pin diameter and the chassis hole diameter and go from there.

Just measured. The tubes in the wishbones are 120mm long but the tubes in the diff support are 135mm

Hi Simon, Glad you got it sorted with Gerry. I’ve built up my jag IRS and it’s sitting in the garage ready to be fitted.
Bit of head scratching going on as not quite sure how I am going to lift up into position yet, might hire a motorbike lift to Jack it up under the car. Be interested how you get on.

That’s interesting as that’s exactly what I plan to use to install mine. I used to own a m/cycle lift, but gave it to a pal. Going to have to borrow it back!
