Bit of advice if someone could help….
I’ve fitted an led strip type light to my car to use as a fog light (see pic)
I’d also like to use it as an extra brake light. To do that I need to use a diode in the brake light circuit to prevent the brake lights coming on when the fog light is on. Could anyone advise what diode I would need?
Thanks
Simon

Absolutely no idea why the pic is upside down!

It’s ok, found what I needed

Re: Diode advice
After a horrendous journey back from the Revival last year in zero visibility rain I fitted the exact same light. I considered using it as a 3rd brake light, but sadly am electrically challenged.
Would you care to share a link to the diode , and perhaps a wiring diagram ?
Cheers.
Re: Diode advice
And if you are very clever you could add a flashing circuit for when using the 3rd light together with brakes it flashes to highlight the fact that you are braking. Years ago I had that feature via a change over switch for use on motorways long before high level brake lights were invented.
Do you have the LED rear lights to get the realistically bright rear/ tail lights as that is a significant improvement in today’s traffic levels.

Re: Diode advice
I do indeed peter. Took advice from a TR2 owning pal nearly rear-ended by an HGV due to inadequate rear lights. Safety trumps originality every time!

Once I’ve got it wired in, will do.cobraboy wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 7:16 amAfter a horrendous journey back from the Revival last year in zero visibility rain I fitted the exact same light. I considered using it as a 3rd brake light, but sadly am electrically challenged.

Re: Diode advice
I'd also be interested! Probably worth a short article for the mag too.
