Aston filler cap and SVA

Post by Karl »

Has anybody actually gone through SVA with the SVA compliant Aston snap shut cap (Europa #ASC312SVA) or knows somebody who did it, maybe with a different type of car?
Regards

Hi Karl,
Looks OK to me, as long as it meets the radius spec.
Make sure it is no more than 50mm high though. (SVA Manual, Page 149 Section 13, item 4b Exterior projections)
Personally I used the Hawk supplied one which looks pretty much the same.
Cheers, Clive.

Hello Clive, you are very good on the SVA manual! How many nights you need to have it under the pillow?

Clive, it`s radiused ok, but the overall height is 60mm, so I have to use a different cap for SVA.

Karl, do you actually have one of these caps? It seems strange that Europa claim it is SVA compliant if it projects more than 50mm. The Europa website states that it has a 65mm pipe, but that is on the underside to reach the tank.
Cheers, Clive.

Yes Clive, I have one. I bought it in an early stage last year. I can send you an e-mail with photo to your e-mail adress, so you can have a look.

If you want to pass the SVA first time then I'm afraid you will need to know the manual too!
Cheers, Clive.

I believe you. What you will need to do then, if it is too tall, is to fit an "SVA friendly" fuel cap for the test and then change it afterwards. 8)

A proper 'Aston' will never pass, with the projecting release mechanism and several sharp edges.
Gerry has a screw on temporary, ask him if you can borrow it. Part of the infamous 'SVA kit'.
