We start our build

Post by JohnO » Mon Mar 10, 2014 5:48 pm

Mark (my son) and I took a trip down to deepest Frant on 1st March to collect our Hawk 289 FIA body/chassis. For those that are interested I'm going to do a weekly update here: http://johno289.blogspot.co.uk/. I say weekly, but it may be a bit more sporadic.

Can someone please let me know if the components in the image below are correct for an MGB front stub axle? (I think the two bearings need to be the other way round). This is the first time I've seen the innards of a wheel bearing and I really don't want to get it wrong!

Hmm - didn't really work with the image. Until I work out what I did wrong, you can see the image on the blog.

Hello John,
This video explains it all quite well. Splined hubs are the same set up. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RJYIXZtnIiw
Let me know if you need any further help.

Hi StewbieC - thanks for the info. I looked at the video, but the guy there has a lot less pieces on his hub. I did work it out though. It is as I've photographed them with the two bearing rings turned round so that the rollers face each other.
Many thanks,
John
