Visual Experiment

Post by Dave Woodward » Sun Oct 30, 2016 10:11 pm

With a little heavy gauge lining paper and a can a grey spray paint I've tried to mock up some fake arches on a nice set of Avons. Looks good but not sure whether to commit. I suspect this will solicit some interesting yet polarised views :?:

Dave,
That looks very 1964. Many standard cars whose owners wanted to go racing did just that. Personally I think it needs to blend in a bit more with a small curve into the wing and perhaps a small curve at the outer edge. If you could build it up in fibreglass and give it a bit of substance it would work better. You could progress to the next step and make one and offer it up as you have the cardboard sample.
Best of luck.
P.s.
I notice you still have the separate rear indicators. I can recommend the LED rear lights by Spyida and then swop the separate indicator units for reflectors.

Yes, Dave I realise it's only a paper cut out but assuming that you will convert if to fibreglass maybe you can give some substance and blend it in a little. If it was the same shape in Ali I think it would look a bit of an add on and not intended bearing in mind the remainder of the car and it's curves.

Like it, Dave.
Granted, it`s a less common shape to the Slabside/FiA/427 variants, but that`s what makes Cobras great... Vivé la Difference! 8)

Peter,
In reality I would have the below more in mind which I suspect is closer to your thoughts.
