Hi dave,
Those pictures bring back memories. I hope all goes well with your dates. Don't worry about paint yet, I drove mine around for months in it's gell coat. It's amazing how many people asked what the colour was!
Cheers, Clive.

(If I'm not here I'm in my workshop or on the golf course!)

Yep, it would be good to see a car in gel coat at Silverstone :)

Hi Karl, I assume you mean the louvres? The outer edges of the fins are nicely rounded, I thought they would be ok? Thanks for the tip anyway.

Further update on progress: After agonising for some time over whether my 4-speed toploader was the right choice of box for the car I decided to bite the bullet and go for a 5-speed. So I've just bought a Borg Warner World Class T5 USA and McLeod Bellhousing from Real Steel before they put the prices up again due to the cr*p exchange rate. Only problem is the clutch pivot is on the wrong side of the bellhousing. Not a major mod, just a case of welding a new socket for the ball pivot in the right place and the engine and box will be in the car in the next few days. The only major component I'm waiting for now is the windscreen which is on order with Brasscraft and should be here next Friday.

I've also downloaded an SVA application form off the VOSA site and will be posting that off tomorrow to hopefully try and get a test date around the 20th April. That gives me another 13 weeks to get finished.

Anyone want to buy a toploader and bellhousing?

Not sure what you mean by the pivot being on the wrong side of the b/h - be aware that in fitting a T5 you have to convert the T5 clutch lever from being a 'puller' to a 'pusher'. Gerry has the bits to do this, which are the same as when converting a classic Mustang to a T5, so are available from the US Mustang specialists.

The Mcleod bellhousing came with a ball pivot on the (UK) drivers side, suitable for a puller type clutch fork which I have. I could use this and mount a slave cylinder to the rear of the fork and push it forward from the back, but I also have a retrofit hydraulic kit which I would prefer to use bought from a company in the States called Novak. The kit contains a pusher type clutch fork which requires the ball pivot to be on the passenger side, hence the small mod. The slave cylinder is mounted on a bracket which is bolted to the engine / bellhousing flange. HTH.

No, what would help would be for me to read the post properly. Hadn't registered you were using a steel bellhousing rather than the stock T5. Does the McLeod need indexing?

According to Brian at Repower it may well be within tolerance as is, but I'm not going to risk it. I'll have a go at dialling it in this weekend with help from a friend who's already done one. I havent bought any offset dowels yet, thought I'd wait and see how far out it is.

Further progress! We got the bellhousing indexed ok on Saturday so went for a trial fit only to find the engine mounts were the wrong ones. Coincidentally I saw on another thread that Jeff had experienced the same problem and thanks to Karl knew which mounts were needed. I had to wait until Monday to order them so spent Sunday cutting holes in the dashboard and seeing how it all went together. The correct engine mounts arrived today so another attempt this evening and thankfully it went in ok. The bellhousing will have to be modified as will the clutch fork and slave cylinder so the whole lot will all have to come out again on Friday so I can carry out some not so gentle persuasion and make it all fit!.

Almost forgot, I sent off my SVA application yesterday and asked for a date of 20th April. Fingers crossed.
