I have been thinking of putting up for sale early next year but recent "mishaps" have pulled it forward for me. I can imagine this taking a long time to sell in any case & I'm in no hurry so can still enjoy shows n meetings.
Having been on a few great drives & meetings with you all, I want to stay with the club and I've decided that I want to go the 289 slabside route (or maybe Mustang convertible). As nice as the Daytona looks and drives it's not exactly something you can decide to go for a country drive in when the sun is shining OR take the missus to the seaside in for fish n chips. So thought the 289 / Mustang would be a better option .... Claire certainly thinks so

Re: Daytona
I'm really sorry to hear that you are selling the Daytona Dale, it is a fabulous looking car. I can only hope that whoever does buy it becomes a member of T289R.
Cheers, Clive.

I'm really sorry to hear that you are selling Her too
I think that She will go very quickly as She is such a great car.
Be sure to get the new owner to join T289R like Clive says.
Have you seen a 289 that you like/is for sale ???
Bill

Re: Daytona
Difficult one really, not quite out of a parkers price guide. You can get superformance ones for 90k - 100k maybe cheaper if you look around or willing to wait & looking at the Factory Five Daytona thats for sale at the moment at mid 60k (not a very nice one) thought 70k to be about right.catsx11 wrote:is your asking price enough?

Re: Daytona
Haven't looked around to seriously yet ... nothing worse than finding a nice car you want but not be able to buy it. There's a good chance I may be looking at the US again exchange rate is superb at the moment & they get some "good registration" out there. There's a nice Kirkham that is registered as a "1964 289 cobra" and a couple of ERA's. but like I say not looking to seriously at the momentkaiserbilly1 wrote:Have you seen a 289 that you like/is for sale ???Bill

Re: Daytona
They all have the same charging system as yours, Dale...
20 years ago, I finished a two-year restoration of a beautiful concours-winning black AH 3000, absolutely stock. I was lucky enough to get a decent grant from a research trust to fund the second year of my PhD, of which a sizeable amount apparently moved sideways into a project race Healey I was also building (heaven only knows how that happened, nothing to do with me). This car was a cross between the '64 Sebring car and DD300. It had no trim, no sound proofing, poor ventilation with a fixed hardtop and sliding door windows, BRG with white hardtop and big white circles on doors, bonnet and bootlid. A year later, I had to sell one of the two for a new-build house deposit. Obviously, the black, standard concours car was the one to keep, so I did.
Big mistake, regretted it for years.
Do you really want to be herded into the same fold as all the rest of us?
