A proper 427 will rev much higher than a standard FE because it is well over-square and has a much stronger block, cross-bolted mains and forged steel crank to keep it all together. The 427 with Tunnel Port heads and intake will rev to 9,000 rpm so I'm told, as would the SOHC, which shares the same block and bottom end.
