Insurance companies

Post by DavidP »

Hello,

Is there a list of insurance companies/brokers which come recommended?.

I have read through many posts concerning insurance on this site but i am slightly confused.

I cannot seem to find the compang haggerty.

Is it a ring round and see?

I tried to get a quote from Hagerty's at the outset and they wouldn't insure me because of the annual mileage I was doing. Also they weren't keen on values over £30k. In the end I went for Heritage. Great company to deal with and extremely helpful, plus the give a club discount.

I am insured with Adrian Flux and have been for years (errr 26 years). They do attract a lot of criticism but they have always been ok with me - mind you I have never made a claim other than a windscreen.

David, I insured my BRA Cobra with Adrian Flux as David Large did. However when I bought the MGC Sebring to replace the BRA, I shopped around and found Peter James Insurance in Birmingham. I was surprised and pleased to find that not only was their quote less expensive for the MGC (which in theory is a more expensive car than the BRA) but it came with unlimited mileage too which is rather unusual in the classic car world. Their phone number is 0121 506 6040 if you are interested. If I were keeping the Cobra I would certainly reinsure with them.

Bloody good job they're not all taking that tack, otherwise the industry would soon die out as there'd be no way for newcomers to get insured.

Having said that, I'm insured with Heritage and they've been very good so far, but like David, I've not claimed for anything other than a screen. We should probably ask Colin who he recommends. ;)

I'm with Heritage and have been for the last 10 years.
They are excellent and give free track day/ hill climb cover as standard and will give an agreed value with minimal fuss.
5000 miles for £145.00 fully comp.
What's not to like.

Regarding claims though, Colin would be the man to ask
