Post by simonjrwinter »

Refining my 289 search, I'd be interested if anybody is looking to sell their Hawk.
Please drop me a PM
Thank you

I suspect an FIA is always going to be a bit pricey, there don't appear to be many about.

You could make them an offer? Depending on how far off your budget is of course.

Were it not black I'd have done that by now :)

It's still registered as an MG so (in my eyes) only worth half what they are asking.

Superficially a nice car, but when they can't even be bothered to clip the HT leads into their holders to make it look respectable, it makes me wonder what the rest of the car is like where it can't be seen. :?

Building a nice car is far more than just buying all the right bits.

Surely the most important point is not that it's scruffy under the bonnet, rather that it's incorrectly registered?
I've been in touch with a RAM owner who's car is registered as a Jaguar. The DVLA have withdrawn his V5C so he will have to now rebuild a lot of the car to current IVA standards before submitting it for an IVA test. Not only that but if they're not happy with the provenance of the donor they may give him a "Q" plate.
The Sherwood Restorations Hawk has had its price INCREASED since they first put it on the market by almost 10K (They originally advertised it as 34K ) and it's STILL registered as an MGB. No effort has been make to get the car correctly registered and NO mention is being made of it's registration "issues"
I would hope people steer well clear.
If it were advertised at it's original price and was correctly registered, I'd certainly be interested.
