It's a nice looking car and almost certainly a Kirkham. Here's a link to some more pictures:

Here's another "interesting" car for sale that appears to have had a chequered history:

I'd certainly be interested to know how much they're asking for the black Kirkham, for obvious reasons. It's a very nice car but a lot of the details are not right: even some big bits actually, such as wrong engine block, toploader, engine ancillaries, gauges, switches, 'powered by Ford' badges etc.
Almost worth ringing up to find out!

Lol,
Saw this last week and was really tempted to ask myself, but bottled it.
I supposed all the wrong details can be put right, if it's authenticity you are after, it also depends on what the car is valued at and who built it.
It does look really nice though, my guess 90k
Also the interesting Mk3, spawned a divided embryo after it's crash, a common acurrance with Cobras
Martin

I would say north of 100k. Having HTP/FIA papers, doesn't that mean it has to be like an original, or is it just as close as possible?Maxakarudy wrote: my guess 90k

I agree if it's a Kirkham, but at the moment no one knows who built itDaleB wrote:I would say north of 100k. Having HTP/FIA papers, doesn't that mean it has to be like an original, or is it just as close as possible?Maxakarudy wrote: my guess 90k

I'd agree, probably the other side of 100k. I don't think FIA papers indicate a particularly high level of accuracy - or at least on this particular example they don't. Probably depends on who checks the car over on the day. As I said, wrong engine and gearbox for starters, and whilst they can be put right it would be a fairly big job, requiring welding to the chassis etc. Then there's the presence of tubular headers, etc. etc. This one is not as close as possible, by some margin. Very pretty though.DaleB wrote:I would say north of 100k. Having HTP/FIA papers, doesn't that mean it has to be like an original, or is it just as close as possible?Maxakarudy wrote: my guess 90k
Edit - just had a look on the MSA site regarding FIA HTPs, which appear to have changed again in 2013. All an HTP does is serve as evidence that the car is of a spec that would be correct in period for competition and therefore wouldn't gain any advantages. Interestingly when I spoke to Shaun Lynn at last year's GRRC Members' meeting he assured me his car ran a T10 as a toploader wasn't allowed...
I did think about FIA papers for my car, but there seems little point as it won't be racing and at well over £1000 it seems a bit of an extravagance!

I think the value would come if the time ever came for you to sell it Roger.
You'll be looking for a period 124 Abarth to go with your new one soon.

I'd never get away with that - and anyway it wouldn't replace the Cobra!Paul Blore wrote:I think the value would come if the time ever came for you to sell it Roger.

The dealer got very excited about the order - he's never seen one, and they won't be getting demonstrators for a few months yet apparently. Needless to say the delivery date has slipped to November, perfect time of year for an open two-seater.
