Hi Guys, as per title.
Engine came over here in my K code Fastback and I drove it around for a couple of years, bear in mind my annual mileage never topped more than a few hundred miles. The engine was refreshed before I bought the car.
So I then decided that it would be worth while buying date correct castings and building an engine for the car that was totally date correct, as you can imagine it took a while, but I did do it and the car is now sold in as near day one condition as possible.
I then thought OK I have this engine I will bag a Toploader and it will be a good idea to do an Aluminium Cobra build. Alas time and other commitments mean this is unlikely to happen.
So during this year I have stripped and rebuilt the K engine.
Bores measured by my engine shop - a perfect +0.030"
Pistons ( forged ) measured as above - perfect.
New piston rings.
Crank reground all journals 0.020"
New shell bearings.
New timing chain and sprockets.
New std oil pump.
New oil pick up.
New core plugs.
Totally silt free block.
Reciprocating assembly balanced.
Refaced HiPo flywheel.
3finger HD clutch cover.
Used HiPo friction plate.
New HD dist drive
Fresh Aluminium 6 vane HiPo waterpump.
Intake and exhaust valves cleaned and lapped, nice tight guides.
Correct cast iron intake.
Correct dual point HiPo distributor
Used fuel pump with filter at base.
New repro valve covers.
New gasket sets top and bottom.
Assembled with new AMK master engine fastener kit.
Cleaned and inspected.
New seals front and rear.
New lever bellows.
Comes with complete shifter assy.
Mustang shifter handle.
Clutch fork and bearing carrier.
I have a 60 photo build file available to view, engine is loose assembled on dry gaskets to allow opening for inspection.
Purchaser to carry out final assembly and torqueing of covers etc.
This is a true HiPo 289, the VIN on the block is from a San Jose coupe and is listed in the High Performance Registry as an engine only.
